Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz baby spinach
  • 1 blood orange
  • 1 zucchini
  • 3 tbsp coconut milk
  • 3 tbsp cashews
  • 2 dates
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup ice

A drink with roots in the Dominican Republic, traditional Morir Sonando is made with orange juice, milk, cane sugar and ice. This smoothie takes that flavor up a notch with a vitamin-C packed blood orange (which is sweeter than a traditional orange) and creamy coconut milk. Cashews, which have the lowest amount of fat out of all nuts (and most of the fat they do have is the healthy unsaturated kind), also have magnesium, an essential nutrient for regulating sleep patterns and keeping nerves healthy. Add some spinach for a big dose of vitamin K, and dates for natural sweetness, and you have a sweet, tropical drink that relaxes and satisfies at the same time.
