Root Vegetable Recovery Blend


  • 1 carrot - scrubbed, chopped
  • 1 beet - scrubbed, chopped
  • 1 orange - peeled
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tbsp hemp protein
  • 2 dates
  • 1 cup wter
  • 1 cup ice

Post-workout, your body is primed to use protein in order to build muscle and carbohydrates to replenish glycogen stores. This grounding smoothie features carrots and beets, two nutrient-dense sources of non-starchy carbs. The nitrates in beets have also been shown to boost stamina. Plant-based protein from hemp will enhance lean muscle to boost metabolism, and anti-inflammatory turmeric is excellent for combating exercise-induced inflammation.

Pro tip: If your blender has trouble with hard root vegetables, slightly steam the beet and carrot for easier blending.
