Cha-cha-cha chia! This childhood throwback can help boost your smoothie and take it to the next level. Chia is full of fiber, protein and omega-3 fatty acids. Just a little bit goes a long way. 1 tablespoon accounts for over 20% of your daily fiber intake!


Chia seeds have virtually zero taste making them an ideal addition to almost any smoothie. Mature seeds are either white or black. One interesting compound of chia is mucilage. Mucilage is found in many plants and acts as a thickener. Let a chia smoothie sit for 5 minutes and you’ll notice it gets much thicker.
