It’s the most wonderful season of all… Girl Scout Cookie season! When else can you celebrate such variety of cookies? We’ve taken some pointers from the Girl Scouts and used our favorite recipes as inspiration for our smoothies this week. We’ve replaced the added sugar and preservatives with superfoods. From Thin Mints to Tagalongs, no matter what your favorite Girl Scout cookie is, we’ve got you healthfully covered.
This Lemonades-inspired smoothie will have you glowing from the inside out. Carrots and apples are packed with vitamins A and C which help to promote radiant skin. Lemon and ginger will soothe your digestive system. Plus, to top it all off, pumpkin seeds are loaded with magnesium which helps to promote proper bone growth and maintenance. Save a few seeds for garnish. Cheers!
You don’t have to wait until Girl Scout Cookie season (approximately 108 days away, but who’s counting, right?!) to get your Thin Mint fix. This sweet, chocolatey, minty smoothie gives you that cookie satisfaction without all the sugary additives. Refreshing and sweet, we don’t think there is a better combination than chocolate and mint.
Chocolate and peanut butter are a match made in heaven, and that's exactly what this smoothie tastes like. But, unlike its cookie counterpart, this smoothie won't weigh you down. Carob powder works as an antioxidant, antibacterial, and antiseptic, and has been shown to improve digestion and lower cholesterol. Peanut butter and avocado make this smoothie creamy and rich while adding great healthy fats and protein. Decadent and healthy, this smoothie is guaranteed to start your day off right.
This is a green smoothie you can root for! It tastes like a delicious oatmeal raisin cookie, and it works wonders for your digestion. Raisins don't just add a special dash of happiness to oatmeal cookies; they do so for this smoothie as well. These little treats are loaded with insoluble fiber, which helps keep your digestion regular. Oranges round out this smoothie with some tartness, and tons of vitamin C.
Caramel Delights (Samoas)
The Girl Scouts were on to something with this recipe. They started us off with caramel and coconut, and we've added healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals. Cashews provide a rich, caramel-like flavor, and antioxidants known to help protect your heart. Coconut offers a sweet complimentary flavor while upping the healthy fat intake. Pineapples, greens, and pears add top it off with a healthy dose of fiber, vitamins A, B, C, potassium and pectin. And with all the wonderful nutrients of broccoli, BroccoLeaf (short for broccoli leaves) provides even more versatility and vibrancy to this recipe. Truly a delight.
