5 Smoothie Recipes for a Healthy Complexion

Just because it’s getting colder, doesn’t mean you can’t have glowing skin all Autumn long!

This week, we’ve filled our smoothie boxes with ingredients that are bursting with skin-loving beta carotene, as well as potent anti-inflammatory properties. Get your glow on with butternut squash, lucuma, cacao, cayenne, and apple cider vinegar.

Butternut Ginger Snap

Low in fat but high in fiber, butternut squash is also full of potassium, B6 and folate. Lucuma is a natural sweetener that comes from South America, and has a good amount of fiber and iron per serving. Mix in some anti-inflammatory ginger, satiating almonds, and a sweet pear, and you have a pie-in-a-glass that will warm you up from the inside out.

What’s better than the classic combination of peanut butter and chocolate? When that combination comes with antioxidant kick! With more antioxidants and magnesium per serving than almost any other food, cacao (which is chocolate in its rawest form) is also full of the minerals iron, copper, and zinc, which means it’s the kind of chocolate you can feel great about eating (every day). Almond Covered Caramel Apple

Who else immediately thinks of caramel apples as soon as October hits? In this smoothified version, we’re including apples (which are full of fiber and have been shown in studies to be beneficial to our brains), and lucuma powder, a Peruvian superfruit that tastes like caramel and boasts ample amounts of beta carotene, iron and zinc. We’re also adding almonds for a satisfyingly nutty taste (as well as protein), dates for natural sweetness, and swiss chard for tons of vitamins A, K and C.
